What do you like about working in Optometry?
I am very proud to be part of a practice that is dedicated to helping people see better and improving their quality of life. Optometrists diagnose medical problems of the eye. and solve the visual needs of patients. Whether it's a new pair of glasses, visual rehabilitation, or sight saving intervention, the positive impact we make on the lives of our patients is deeply rewarding. When a child puts on their first pair of glasses and exclaims "Wow! I can see!- it just makes my day!
What is your favourite story?
Our practice has been serving the Shelburne and surrounding areas for over 30 years. As a result. we are seeing generations of patients in the same family. Children who had their first eye exam in our office are now bringing in their babies to be seen. Many patients have been coming for decades and continue to do so even if they move out of the area. We are very grateful that so many have entrusted their family's vision care to our practice. Of course new patients are always welcome.
One time, a lady called in, saying she was new to the Shelburne area and would like to book appointments for herself and her spouse. I started to set up a new patient file, requesting her name, date of birth, and address. Unfortunately, I was unable to book this patient. You see, she was calling from Shelburne, Nova Scotia and I felt that she might want to choose an optometrist closer to home! She said that she Googled Eye Doctors in Shelburne and our name came up. We both had a good laugh and I told her if she ever moved to Shelburne, Ontario, she should give us a call.
